Before the Teleclass Call
Preparation is important to a good learning experience. Here
are some general guidelines to help you prepare for your
Teleclass call:
There can be many distractions at home or in the
office. If you have others around, let them know you will
be on the call so they aren't talking with you.
If you have children or pets, make provision for them as
they may not understand that you are on the call. The other
participants on the call can hear that background noise and
it makes it difficult for others to hear. Always try to
find a quiet spot in your home or at your business
from which to call.
Disable “call waiting” before dialing in.
Different phone companies have different procedures for
doing this, so learn how to temporarily disable call
waiting.
Since you’ll be participating on the call, it’s
best to use a “corded” or land line telephone. Only
use a cell or cordless phone if you must.
If you have a two-line phone, turn the ringer off
on the second line. Otherwise, if you get a call during the
call, it can cause a very loud noise that everyone will
hear.
Call the Teleclass phone number at least 5 minutes
before the designated time to ensure that you are able to
get connected and prepared before the official starting
time. (Don't forget any time zone difference!)
Be sure to read the article on Teleclass Etiquette so you'll
know what to do on the call for a positive learning
experience.
